Celebrating the Seasons: Fall Equinox

Image furnished by http://kenelwood.wordpress.com/2009/09/10/drying-indian-cor/

In the middle of September Fall Equinox occurs, also known as Mabon. Marking the beginning of Autumn it is the main harvest festival of the Wiccan calendar. In Her bountiful Mother aspects the Goddess manifests. The God emerges as the Harvest Lord and Corn King. Hues are dark red, orange, gold, brown and indigo. It is the Thanksgiving Festival.
In appreciation of the harvest season hang dried ears of corn around your home. With prayers of Thanksgiving select the best of each vegetable, herb, nut, fruit, and other food you've harvested and give it back to Mother Earth. Do a Thanksgiving circle, offering thanks as you face each direction -- for physical health, mental health, home, finances (north); for gifts of knowledge (east); for accomplishments in career and hobbies (south); for relationships (west); and for spiritual insights and messages (center). Do chanting and meditations as you store away food for the winter.
